A Civil War pitting countryman against countryman, a rich socialite with clearly wrong motives, and a young soldier hiding a secret that could end their personal valiant fight for their beloved country is the backdrop for this page turning novel. Lynn Austin tells the story of two separate lives and the people surrounding them that eventually intricately weave together. Her unique way of storytelling keeps one interested as each chapter brings you closer and closer to the well written characters and how they live and learn as ordinary people. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you will certainly hope for true love to be found. Beginning at the Battle of Bull Run in 1861, Austin takes you through the four difficult years of America’s Civil War and follows the Union soldier’s point of view and the medical teams of doctors and nurses that assist them. From horrific and overwhelming battles that leave the medical teams in sheer exhaustion to the emotional personal turmoil of finding God, falling in love, losing love, and discovering truth, Austin does a fine job showing you that things aren’t always as they seem. Fire By Night is an interesting and well worth your time read. It is clear by the quality of Austin’s writing why she was the 2002 and 2003 Christy Award winner. Buy Fire by Night From Amazon.com
